We have here our vision of the ancestress who becomes pregnant after walking in the footprint of heaven, after swallowing the egg of the dark bird, feels the spirit rising in her body and gives life to it with her words.

And the Great Mother said:
Come my child and give me all that you are. I am not afraid of your strength and darkness, of your fear and pain.
Give me your tears. They will be my rushing rivers and roaring oceans.
Give me your rage.
It will erupt into my molten volcanoes and rolling thunder. Give me your tired spirit. I will lay it to rest in my soft meadows.
Give me your hopes and dreams. I will plant a field of sunflowers and arch rainbows in the sky.
You are not too much for me.
My arms and heart welcome your true fullness.
There is room in my world for all of you, all that you are. I will cradle you in the boughs of my ancient redwoods and the valleys of my gentle rolling hills.
My soft winds will sing you lullabies and soothe your burdened heart.
Release your deep pain.
You are not alone and you have never been alone.
~ Linda Reuther, from ‘Homecoming’
Today we see a graceful spirit reaching down from the heavens to pour blessings through a new descendant who then passes these on to her children. This is about now reaching a critical point in an extremely testing time.
When the way opens and when arms are opened in warm welcome.
We’re honoured with a visit of the great one and welcome this blessing without grasping or trying to possess it. This is the moment of initiation where the child dies to the past in order to reach the standing of an adult.
When shamans do ritual for the unquiet dead, the excluded and sad ones, to weep and let them know they’re loved, and have family.
In this time, we don’t rely on all our old sources for support, but look also to secret and hidden wellsprings for advice, for new life and for new growth. A time of grace and of elegance in the woman’s way.

THE HIGH PRIESTESS
Her magic lives in her being, her body, and her knowing.
She’s the deep transformation that comes through intuition. She doesn’t dwell in the mundane and is only known in the mystery.
She doesn’t listen with the mind but hears through her feelings and sees with her senses. Enigmatic and elusive, she asks you to let go of logic and surrender to her secrets… Can you hear her quiet inner voice? The voice of your heart?
The answers live there.
